Jonathan Coulton

I think this requires no explanation other than you should be listening to as much Jonathan Coulton as possible.

Blue World - Naptime

I am owning the month of April.

Fun experiment: I arranged panels randomly in Photoshop and just started drawing, which is how the first Blue World came about. Originally, I was angling towards a short comic about what would happen if I worked as part of the staff in a mental ward. The end result was much different yet more the same.

Mondays...

I mean, am I right?

Doctor? Doctor!

I'm such a fanboy.

I may attempt to ink this one, but with using the wacom tablet, you have to zoom in close to get smooth lines and those arms are going to be difficult to trace in full.

Spider-Man 3

Best thing about that movie was the simple fact that the Mary Jane character takes more abuse from the general public than Spider-Man does from Venom, Sandman, and Hobgoblin combined.

This isn't the actual line from the movie. When the newscaster comes on, he says "The victim is identified as Mary Jane Watson, who had a brief stint on Broadway." Or something to that effect. I still laughed.

Lost Boys

They made a sequel to Lost Boys. And Corey Feldman is reprising his role as the comic educated vampire hunter.

I've been wearing a red bandana around my head all day.

One on the Line

It's been over a year. I drew another fish.

Lord Thistlehause

I like to think that a man having already fallen on hard times spent the last of his family's fortune on a commissioned portrait but was unable to meet the agreed upon price.

Is this the future of Cold Ramen?

Busy week, folks. But doodling on post its and random scraps from my desk calendar have been helping me get through the day.

See the guy with the helmet? Name the movie he's from. Go on. Do it.

Happy Anniversary?

I can never get the timing right on these things, but Cold Ramen is over a year old. I think my first post on this thing was March 17th. Qwest is too slow for me to bother checking to be sure. But it's been a year. I've got over 150 posts to show for it. The blog was a big aide in showcasing my work when I was applying to MCAD, and since joining Facebook, has picked up a lot more traffic. #3 on Google and #1 in Anne Keasling's heart apparently. So a big Thank You to everyone for all your comments and emails and recommending Cold Ramen to others.

So, how shall we celebrate?

Scruff

What can I say? We've got a light drizzle going on, I've got a 32 oz of Fat Tire beer at my disposal, and Proof by I Am Kloot is one of my favorite songs.

Dr. Jones

I decided to avoid bold dark lines on this one. I may go back and try it again. But here it is.

I will own the collection eventually.

Hogwarts School Photo

This would be a good time to learn how to make an animated GIF with Photoshop CS3. Any pointers?

Eating Out

Doodled this sketch. I was going for Spiderman tearing off the black suit with the black tentacles clinging to him, but the pose looked lazy to me and besides, it's supposed to be Peter in the black suit.

So in the process of inking in Photoshop, I added a few things and voila.

Venom is fun to draw. You don't have to keep anything to scale.

Of Wizards and Men

Lots and lots of changes. I'm attending MCAD in the Fall, I just put a security deposit in for a single apartment, applied for the FAFSA, and watched a few episodes of The Batman on Youtube.

Reading through the archives of Nobody Scores is a very good use of time.

Who's Having a Good Week?

Rock Hammer

I'm forcing myself to break my personal drawing habits. Sharp edges seem to be in.

Shawshank Redemption. One of my favorite movies.

Little Jessica

Little Jessica has just learned a new word after a particularly long day with her father.

The eye means nothing.
